Pike Soccer Club offers
Recreational Soccer for boys and girls from 4 years to 16 years
old. New or developing Rec League players learn basic soccer
skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Fun and soccer skill
development are the goals. Competition is not. Each player plays a
minimum of one half of each game. Scores, team and league standings
are not kept, and all players receive a participation trophy or
medal at the end of each season. US Youth Soccer, National Soccer
Coaches Association of America, Indiana Youth Soccer Association,
and Pike Soccer Club believe Rec Soccer players learn best, and
have more fun, playing small sided game format of 3 v 3 or 4 v 4.
It is widely accepted young players need to develop techniques
before being taught tactics. The best way to teach soccer skills
and techniques is having children play soccer! Pike Soccer Club
moved to small sided format many years ago. Format of play for
Soccer Tots is each session ends with 3 v 3 games; U5 and U6 play
two 3 v 3 games at the same time on dual fields, U7 and U8 play two
4 v 4 games at the same time on dual fields, U12 plays 8 v 8 games,
U13-U14 play 11 v 11 in a Rec Plus league. High School Rec U15-U18
plays 11 v 11 in the Spring and 6 v 6 in the Fall. Please see
rules of play. All coaches and volunteers complete a criminal back
ground check and coaches complete a coaching certification course.
Age Chart for all PSC, Travel, Rec Plus, Rec & Tots.
In Indiana, "soccer age" is determined by the player's age on August
1. This is the age group at which the child will play for the
entire seasonal year (fall to spring seasons). For example, if a
player is 7 on August 1, he plays in "Under 8." Even though the
player has a birthday during the season, the player continues to
play on an "U-8" team through the following spring.
Does
your preschooler just love to kick a ball around?
Soccer Tots
is a developmental program for four year olds
(ages 3 years 8 months to 4 years 7 months and their parents). The
Spring season only program helps children develop physical skills,
get exercise, make friends, and have fun. All activities are
inclusive. Each 50 minute session includes fun games that develop
gross and fine motor skills, and end with a 3 vs. 3 soccer game
(with plenty of goals scored for all). Registration fee includes a
T shirt ("uniform") and participation award ("trophy!").
Registration on line in winter for spring play.
